				<title>Local Court Act 2007 commences</title>

				&lt;p&gt;The provisions of the new &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/scanview/inforce/s/1/?TITLE=%22Local%20Court%20Act%202007%20No%2093%22&amp;amp;nohits=y&quot;&gt;&lt;em&gt;Local Court Act &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;em&gt;2007&lt;/em&gt; (NSW) have been proclaimed to commence on Monday 6 July 2009 by Notification on 3 July 2009.&amp;nbsp; This Act makes significant changes to how matters are handled in the Local Courts in NSW.&amp;nbsp; For information about this new Act, it is worth reading the second reading speeches and explanatory notes from when&amp;nbsp;the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/prod/parlment/nswbills.nsf/6355a6928b367630ca256e6700008afa/c7df2ec9a52f8397ca2573920017f86f!OpenDocument&quot;&gt;Local Court Bill &lt;/a&gt;2007&amp;nbsp;passed through NSW Parliament.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p align=&quot;left&quot;&gt;The &lt;em&gt;Local Court Act 2007&lt;/em&gt; will replace the separately constituted local courts in New South Wales with the Local Court of New South Wales, which will sit at various locations across the State. A similar change occurred in 1973 when the District Court of New South Wales was created from a number of separately constituted District Courts.&lt;/p&gt;
