Minister opens new learning space at the State Library
Arts Minister George Souris today [12 May] launched a dynamic new learning space at the State Library of NSW that will transform the way students learn about Australia’s history and heritage. "The State Library of NSW’s new Glasshouse Learning Space uses the latest technologies to connect all NSW students and teachers with the Library’ premier $2.2 billion cultural collection on the discovery and exploration of Australia and the Pacific," said Minister Souris.
"The NSW Government is committed to increasing and fostering the abilities of our young people, and the State Library plays an important role in delivering inspiring and curriculum focused programs to K-12 students and teachers in real and web-based settings." According to Noelle Nelson, Acting NSW State Librarian and Chief Executive, "the State Library’s collection houses some of the most important artefacts and documents from Australia’s past – eg. nine of the 11 First Fleet, Bligh’s logbook and the Tasman map – providing a treasure trove of content ripe for the picking for education programs."
